Resource of the week

Time Intentional is a free weekly newsletter written by communications professional and freelance writer Alyssa Towns. It provides reflections, inspiration, and ideas about defining intentional living. It's for those who value their time (over traditional measures of success), want to explore intentionality, or want to become more aware of and comfortable with the fact that time is finite and temporary. Time Intentional covers various topics that make a purposeful life, including values, self-reflection, careers, health, relationships, and more. Check it out!

New transformation / change comms jobs

Additional internal comms jobs are still open in last week’s issue of Strictly Internal.

Insights

  • “Without a North Star, you’re not leading change—you’re just drifting. And a drifting ship never reaches its destination,” says Phil Kirschner in a new article with a great outline of how to create a north star vision for a change or transformation program. Check it out!

  • “Your project isn’t one of a kind and that’s a good thing,” say the authors of this HBR article on the “Uniqueness Trap” and how it can lead to project underperformance. Great points to keep in mind for any comms project (and for messaging, too…so few things are truly one-of-a-kind!).

  • LinkedIn published its inaugural “Skills on the Rise” rankings, showing “the fastest-growing skills that professionals should be investing in to get ahead in today's world of work.” Full list is here, and here is the ranking for comms/PR professionals (AI, not surprisingly, tops the list). The list for HR pros is more interesting, where “employee communications” tops the chart, even ahead of AI.

  • If you haven’t checked in with the Navigating Disruption podcast in a while, check out the latest episode where hosts Mike Klein and Janet Hitchen talk about how AI is “revolutionizing internal communication and employee engagement” with Tarek Kamil, CEO & Founder of Cerkl.

  • Reminder — Contact Monkey has two really good events this week:

    • On March 26, learn data-backed tips and methods to ensure your emails get read, based on insights from their soon-to-be-released 2025 Internal Email Benchmark Report. Sign up here.

    • On March 27, a panel of experts will debate “Is Data the Future of Comms?”, looking at what tools and methods actually work and the role of AI in measuring comms impact. Register here.
